Birth of the Sand Viper: Origins of Jafar (Dark Immortal Flames, #0.5)

Written by: LaSasha Flame
Narrated by: Matyas J.

This was quite an interesting story. Showing the backstory of Jafar and how he became the man he is in the Aladin books / movies.

Its not a very long book so I dont want to say too much to give things away. But I think many people will enjoy it. The descriptions contained within this book are very detailed to keep you knowing what is going on.

The narrator does a great job bringing this book out. His tones going up and down in all the right areas.

I am glad to have been able to get this book. I got it free in and am leaving an honest review of my thoughts on it.

Book Description:

As a fan of the fairy tale retellings, LaSasha is very excited to announce this short story she just released!

Lost Coast (Undead Ultra #3)

by Camille Picott

I love this series to date, the author really goes into detail but not overly so that you find yourself skipping over passages. This is the third one in the series and they really give you a run for your money ;) pun intended.

Kate has changed a lot in each book, you get to see/read/hear how each thing affects her.

The book follow Kate again as well as a soldier name Ban. I will say that while it was interesting hearing things from Ben, I am more into Kate's chapters xD.

Ben really likes Kate which he speaks about in his inner monologues but he is really crud at expressing anything to her. Along with Kate and her training with the others, Ben helps everyone learn how to shoot guns.

There are some very shocking scenes you wouldn't see coming but still can bring your emotions to the extremes.

I was given a free audiobook on the Authors Direct app. This review is my thanks to the author for a great read that I really enjoyed. These are my thoughts on the book.

Book Description:

What if zombies evolved … and organized?

Out of the ashes of the zombie apocalypse, Kate and her small band of survivors have created a life and become a family. They train together, scavenge together, and survive together.

Their comfortable routine is interrupted by a frantic distress call. When Kate forms a rescue mission, she and her people find themselves faced with the unthinkable: evolved “alpha” zombies capable of organizing hordes of the undead.

Even worse, the alphas are on the move--and they’re headed straight for the university where the survivors have made their home.

Can Kate and her people outwit the alpha zombies and save their home? Or will they become part of the undead horde?

Dorm Life (Undead Ultra #2)

by Camille Picott

Awesome book.

This was a great listen, I was really glad to be able to hear it. The author was kind enough to give me a code for Authors Direct to listen to this awesome book. It is continuing the journey where the first book left off which was also a good book that you should check out as well as this one.

This book itself is has 2 sides, which is Kate and Jenna (Carter's girlfriend). The book follows both girls in the new world they are trying to survive in. What Kate is thinking and seeing , what Jenna is thinking and seeing. Each one having some different and some same thoughts on things.

Kate watches over the kids and tries to help them for the future they have all been thrust into. Getting them in shape could be tough going, but you will be able to read all about it in the novel.

Getting a copy of the audio book which didnt require me to leave a review, I am doing that on my own in the own thoughts, can't wait to see what happens next. (Also I have done them all but going back into them to re-listen cause they are a great series, and to write up a review on here instead of just on Amazon)

Book Description:

How do you survive the apocalypse when the only things your companions care about are pot, video games, and beer? This is the predicament Kate finds herself in after running two hundred miles to find her son.

Holed up in a dorm with Carter and his friends, she is surrounded by college kids who have no interest in gathering supplies, fortifying their home, or even taking out the trash.

Resources are scarce. Zombies are everywhere. Survivors prey on the weak.

Feet have become the only reliable form of transportation. Kate knows this better than anyone. When you move, you need to be quiet, and you need to be quick.

Kate needs to get her kids in shape. She needs to get their minds out of the Xbox and into the apocalypse. If she can’t, none of them will survive.

This next installment of Undead Ultra will make you want to lace up your running shoes, take out the trash, and kill some undead. Embrace the adventure and get Dorm Life now!

Undead Ultra (Undead Ultra #1)

by Camille Picott

I got a free audiobook code for audible. I had seen it in the passing and it was a new take on the zombie apocalypse scene that I knew I wanted to read it to see what happens in it, and I am very glad that I did so. I was not required to write a review for the code. Also I bought the ebook on a whim, to support the author and the great work they did writing this.

The book follows Kate as she runs to get to her son. Kate and her friend Frederico were ultrarunners but even this will test them to the limits as they try to scavenge for food, water, supplies on the way to their kids, all the while trying to dodge around the zombies and outwit other humans. Frederico to his daughter which is their first stop and Kate on her way to her son.

I have read the prequel first and was so excited to see where it blended into the main story. It did not disappoint me, it was so well written and blended in, that if you didnt read the prequel you wouldnt know that it was there.

Great read am glad I came across it in my travels.

Book Description:

Undead: a reanimated corpse with a craving for human flesh.

Ultramarathon: any footrace longer than a traditional marathon (26.2 miles).

For ultrarunners Kate and Frederico, a typical Saturday morning is spent pounding out a twenty- to thirty-mile “fun run.” It’s during one of their runs that an insidious illness descends upon northern California, turning humans into flesh-shredding zombies.

When Kate receives a desperate call from her son, Carter, she and Frederico flee their hometown and set out to help him. The only problem? Carter attends college over two hundred miles away and the freeways—clogged with car wrecks, zombies, and government blockades—are impassable. Running back roads and railroad tracks becomes their only means of travel, but neither of them has ever run so far before.

As pain, injuries, hunger, and fatigue plague them, getting to Carter and staying alive seem impossible. It’s either outrun the undead or become one of them, and for Kate, death is not an option.

The Last Real Girl

Written by:L.C. Warman

Narrated by: Brook Meyers (I hope that is how it is spelt, the app doesnt give any info besides the author's name, I am going by the audio introduction)

I asked to review this as an audiobook, which was given to me free through an app called Authors Direct. The book wasn't too long but I enjoyed every minute of it. This is the first book of the trilogy series and where it ends makes you want more, so you will want to check out the next book (which I don't have atm but this review is on this book only anyways) and likely want the third and final as well. I will say I wish the trilogy was an all-in-one book though.

This book has excellent well thought characters and very detailed descriptions that give you a feel for the world you are reading / hearing about. Listening to this book was very nice with the way you hear the thoughts of Reese.

The narrator did a good job in bringing this book to life though some of the character voices seemed to be a bit too close to each others so it's not something you want to listen to if you aren't paying attention to the dialog on who is speaking.

I received a free review copy of this audio-book and am voluntarily leaving am honest review.

Book Description:

When 17-year-old Reese first moved to the wealthy, lakeshore town of St. Clair over five years ago, she never expected someone like Charlotte Walters to take her under her wing. Charlotte is everything that Reese is not: rich, gorgeous, and carefree, living with her enigmatic older brother and her parents in a mansion at the top of the lake.

But when senior year starts, everything seems off. Reese notices that Charlotte’s older brother Aiden keeps coming back from college to hang around on weekends, stoic and grim. And Charlotte’s parents seem more distracted, almost lost. Meanwhile, Charlotte keeps insisting to Reese that nothing is wrong, and decides to host a Halloween party with the theme of “missing girls.”

That night, at the party, Charlotte goes missing.

Everyone who attended becomes an instant suspect, from Charlotte’s brother (who argued with Charlotte earlier that night), to Charlotte’s field hockey teammate (who wasn’t invited to the party in the first place), to Reese herself (who was the last person to see Charlotte alive, out near the lake).

With the clock ticking, Reese must unravel what happened to her best friend, and dig through the layers of secrets protecting people in St. Clair. Because now, being the quiet sidekick won’t cut it. And maybe only an outsider to St. Clair can truly confront all of the town’s dark mysteries.

Wired

Written by: Leslie North
Narrated by: Rebecca Roberts

On Story Origin I requested: The Solomon Brothers Series (3 book series) and it only gave me a code for the first book so I can only give my thoughts on that book itself and not the 3 as it seemed like it was supposed to be. The name of the first book is Wired.

Was a nice short book with lots of information packed into it, without it feeling overwhelming. The story was quite interesting, leaves you wanting more.

Narrator did a great job on the character voices.

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving am honest review.

Written by: Ashley Fontainne

This was not a long book, its 1 hour and 55 minutes in Audiobook format.

Step Into Magic

Written by: Day Leitao

This is the first book in a series, I had gotten the second book first which stated it could be stand-alone, and in a way could have been, but with this book, it filled in gaps that was missing in the second book that had left me wondering.

This is a great series, especially if you get them in their proper order.

So the story starts off without a big amount of backstory on where the shoes came from or the dance scene, you only really get some bits and pieces. Karina is asked to go to another realm and to destroy the shoes, there is just one little issue about that. Which you can find out by reading the book.

Narrator does a great job bring the best out of the characters, changing voices and such. It really blends well together.

Book Description:

She's got the fate of a kingdom in her hands—or rather, in her shoes.

14-year old Karina doesn’t know what she wants, but knows what she’s found—fascinating silver shoes. Fascinating, dangerous, and potentially evil. On the upside, they do bring cool visitors. When a princess invites her to go to Whyland and save her kingdom, of course she accepts. There’s that little “let’s destroy the shoes” detail she’s not crazy about, but hey, free trip, alternate world.

But Whyland is nothing like she expected. Karina finds herself stuck in a kingdom she doesn’t understand, with no clue on who to trust. Before saving anyone, she’d better save herself—if she figures out how.

To make matters worse, as much as the princess is fierce, determined, and brave, she'll jeopardize everything just to reconnect with her boyfriend, almost boyfriend, or whatever. And that might just be their doom.

Step into Magic is a fun YA portal fantasy adventure. If you like books with strong heroines, friendships between girls, subtle romance, and some mystery, you've found your book.

Dissension (Chronicles of the Uprising Book 1)

Written by: Katie Salidas

Great book, good twists and turns in the book. Its an interesting story about postapocalyptal events. Just the beginning with the prologue drew me in, it was a good draw.

This book follows Mira who wants freedom, and doesn't understand how while she fights and kills other vampires, how the humans can sit there and watch and even eat, but she does what she must do to live to see another day. If there is a way out of this fighting to survive she will find it and do what she needs to do.

The Narrator did an awesome job, she has a soft voice and you can tell she enjoyed reading this book. Her voice rose and fell in the right places with makes the book to listen to that much better.

Between a great Narrator voice and/or a great Author writing, you can really imagine what you are listening to/reading.

I would love to read/listen to the next 5 books in the series later on.

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Book Description:

Survival is a deadly game that Mira refuses to lose.

In the new world order, being supernatural is a crime. Vampires once thought to be mythical, have been discovered, assimilated, and enslaved. Used for blood sport in the gladiatorial arena, their immortal lives are allowed to continue only for the entertainment of the human masses.

Mira is a proven warrior with a blade as sharp as her fangs. She's spent the last thirty years in the arena, where life and death are determined by the stroke of a sword and the cheers of her fans. The only way for a vampire to get out out of this never ending battle is in a body bag, and Mira's fought too long and too hard to go out like that.

If there is another way, she'll find it.

Through the Psyche of Ambrosia: Part I : Worlds Beyond Scripture: Book 1

Written by: Byron Fortin
Narrated by: John Joseph Rogers
Series: Worlds Beyond Scripture, Book 1
Length: 6 hrs and 59 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 06-09-18
Language: English
Publisher: James Byron Boyd

So I got both the audio-book and the written book, and they are both one in the same as it's the same story, but I will try to remember to put both read/listen in even though I listened to it.

So when you read or listen to this book the story actually starts on chapter three which is actually done on purpose. The author describes many things in the book, which can help you visualize what you are listening/reading even better There is so many twists and turns in the book you never know what will be around the next corner as you read/listen to the book. I personally think it was a well written book, though some of the descriptions could be cut a bit.

Ambrosia who is a male gets a chance to experience a whole new world that he has never seen before. The book follows his journey into the modern era. New clothes was one of the first things he got introduced to, and the description was quite funny as to what he thought of it. As he is trying to cope with this life he is living, he feels haunted by things in his past and has to think what can be done to cope.

The narrator was great, he pronounced everything at a good pace, never rushing through or drawing out the scenes. He put voices into each of the characters, even making it seem like each one had the proper emotions (example sadness). His voice rose and fell in all the right areas. He does a great job on this book.

I received a free copy of this audio-book free and am giving it an honest review of my thoughts.

__________________________________________________________________________________

Publisher's Summary

Meet Ambrosia as he is invited by a wealthy philanthropist to leave behind his life of general obscurity, safely sheltered from society, to enter a world of intriguing characters in the city of Hartland. But if he only knew what was to come, he may have never stepped onto that plane.

He soon becomes terrorized in a dream so intensely real his mind cannot seem to let go of it and is plagued by disturbing images of infatuation from another time and place. Afraid he is spiraling into madness, Ambrosia seeks out the help of those around him. Yet he has no idea what he is about to uncover. There may be more mystery and magic in his new home than he ever cares to admit.

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, events, and incidents are the products of the author's imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.

Rescue 12 Responding

By: Faye Hamilton
Narrated by: Charles Fowler
Length: 8 hrs and 1 min
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 07-02-19
Language: English
Publisher: River Crossing International

This book starts out talking of a girl and follows her a little, then it starts to follow along the 2 paramedics, who meet this young girl and sparks their belief in God. These paramedics are a team called Rescue 12. It follows along as Rescue 12 go to many calls and the book discuses the issues of what is happening, what is going on in the area (for example someone who was mad, it talks of anger talking to this person making them go off). There is so much more to this story as you read/listen.

The narrator was great, he pronounced words properly, and put voices to the characters. His voice rose and fell in all the right areas.

Between the great book and the great narrator it was great to listen to, Especially as I had a migraine so the soothing voice and being able to sit in a dark-ish cool room and just listen was a nice experience.

I loved this book, it is really moving. All the mini scene stories along with the main story really go together. It shows the spiritual battle of good versus evil going on behind the scenes that you don't see.

I received a free copy of this audio-book free and am giving it an honest review of my thoughts.

Faye Hamilton has also said that she has more promo codes for audible and should you wish to have this awesome book your more than welcome to send her a message and if she has an extra you can have for an honest review.

Adam's Cross: Witchfinder, Book 1 - Audiobook

By: E.M.G. Wixley
Narrated by: Alexander Misiti
Series: Witchfinder, Book 1
Length: 4 hrs and 58 mins
Unabridged Audiobook
Release date: 06-23-16

I am reviewing the audio-book. Not sure i would rate it as a horror book, at least what I view as horror kind of books.

I started to listen to Adam's Cross audio-book is a listen which takes 4 hours and 58 minutes (of course I knew that I wouldn't need that much time to finish cleaning). As I listened to the book and voice narrator I was drawn into the book. With the writers wordings, and the narrator doing some different voices for each character in the book, like an Irish accent for one of the characters, it helps you with the visualization.

The book follows Adam as a child and the things he sees and hears. At certain points you have to ask yourself, is this really what is happening to him?, or just the imagination of a child? Things that he sees, does and thinks is very interesting to hear (or even to read). The book progresses to Adam being an adult.

His parents fight a lot, but usually stop when he is in the room. His mom runs hot and cold with him, and all he wants is his mom's approval. His dad is a very weak man and Adam knows it but wishes it was different.

I received a free copy of this audio-book free and am giving it an honest review, for my thoughts.
