Veronica keeps seeing and hearing this blond boy around her age who is wearing a kilt, but no one else seems to see him when they go to look he is gone. She goes to Scotland with her friend Mackenna, where she sees the boy there again a few different times. Mackenna Aunt Gracie has left Mackenna some instructions that are hidden away which she eventually finds and the girls put them to the test. Mackenna doesn't believe it will work but Veronica does. When the instructions work, they find themselves in Doon........only reading the book will tell you whether that is a good or bad thing! Hope that intrigues you enough.

The book reads in the first person, switching between Veronica and Mackenna. I think it is good to go that so you are being kept up to date with them both, but I am also glad there wasn't more than the two aspects cause it can get confusing.

When I was reading this I hadn't realized that it was going to be a series. When it ended I was dying to read more and was worried that was it, but I was and am glad that there is another. The next novel is actually due out in September this year, so I won't have to wait too long.

This was an awesome read and was glad I chose it over some of the others books I had seen.

Book Description Veronica doesn’t think she’s going crazy. But why can’t anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months. But the Scottish countryside holds other plans. Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna’s great aunt---and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica’s daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they’ve longed for… or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.
