Spirit Fighter - Son of Angels 1

By Jerel Law
Published by Thomas Nelson
Reading level: Ages 9 and up
Paperback: 256 pages

This is a great read for young kids (like my daughter), to teens, to even adults (like me).

Jonah is 13 (his brother Jeremiah is 7, & his sister Eliza is 11). Their mother is Eleanor Stone. They are all part angel (from one who is a fallen angel). Jonah has a hard time in basketball practice. Afterwards he prays in the field (which is something his father said to do for guidance, and he is a pastor). He kicks a soccer ball in anger and it goes launching. He later tells his father (who in turn talks to his mother) and they sit him down (without his siblings) and tell him he (and his siblings) is a quarter angel, and his mother is half angel. He finds out that good and evil are still waging war, and that he will be expected to fight in the war.

Marcus and Taryn (who are angels) deliver the news/order from God that Jonah and Eliza must find a way to rescue their mother from the fallen angel's clutches. Jonah is given a watch thing called a MissionFinder 3000 to help find his mom.

This is a great novel. I couldn't put it down, nor can i explain all that much more without giving a little too much away. All I can say is anyone and everyone will likely like this book. It is a great spiritual adventurous novel to read.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson publishers as part of their book review bloggers program. All opinions expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review.

Percy Jackson, move over! Jonah Stone is here!

What if Nephilim—the children of angels and men—still walked the earth? And their very presence put the entire world in danger? In Spirit Fighter, Jonah and Eliza Stone learn that their mother is a Nephilim and that they have special powers as quarter-angels. When their mom is kidnapped by fallen angels, they must use those powers to save her. Along the way, they discover that there is a very real and dangerous war going on between good and evil and that God has a big part for them to play in that war.

Parents today are looking for fiction that makes Christianity and the Bible exciting for their kids. This series is the Christian answer to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, The Secret Series and other middle-grade series packed with adventure, action, and supernatural fights. Son of Angels, Jonah Stone will be the first series in the market to explore this topic from a biblical perspective with content that is appropriate and exciting for middle-grade readers.

“Jerel Law has crafted a fantastic story that will leave every reader wanting more. Stop looking for the next great read in fantasy fiction for young readers—you’ve found it!” —Robert Liparulo, bestselling author of Dreamhouse Kings and The 13th Tribe
