Cliques, Hicks, and Ugly Sticks - Confessions of April Grace 2

This is the second book in the series, i never read the first one and didn't need to, to be able to follow this great plot.
This is a good book to read. It speaks of April Grace who is 11 and all the trials she is going through, with school and family. She has Isabel who took over her big sister's room (Myra Sue). Myra Sue is now rooming with April Grace and never keeps the room room clean. Her one friend turned snobby on her over the summer. Her mom is having a baby and it seems like it is a difficult pregnancy.

I would recommend teens to adults to read this, i think that the problems in this book are pretty well relate-able to a lot of people.

Softly and Tenderly

I think this book was great. This was well written, and doesn't overdo the descriptions. It explains some of the back stories as you go along and meet with each of the characters. I got really into the book in the first 3 pages.





Here are some extra tidbits to get you interested, hope you like them. :D

Jade wants to have a baby, but seems to be unable to, she always miscarries. Her husband Max and her mother-in-law June think they can adopt, and don't really need to actually choose "the right one".

She thinks that because she had an abortion once, that God is saying that she blew her chance, to have one of her own, and she doesn't want to use a surrogate cause that bring another woman into their marriage intimately, and it would feel like cheating. She says if God wants them to have children, then they will when He decides. Max wants a boy and says if they don't get one then they can just keep trying.


Jade's mom has leukemia, and she looks after her, as well as manages her 2 shops. She has a really old truck, and nothing really works in it.

She find out her father-in-law is cheating (after she and the mother-in-law catch him).

How to Bend and Snap

This move was on Legally Blonde and when I went to see just the video of the move to show my daughter (cause I thought it was funny, especially the guy at the end saying it works every time) I came across a site that tells of the "steps" so thought I would share them here:

1. Assume a target. It might be your crush, a guy you've never seen before but have fallen for "just like that", or it might be someone you know well, and just want to try out this move on for a test (you can explain afterward).

2. Casually find an object that is not heavy and is easy to pick up. It needs to be something that you'd normally be carrying around, such a pen, piece of paper, tweezers, your watch, etc.

3. Invite the guy over for a casual conversation. He will be unaware that he has propelled himself into your plan. Alternatively, it might be easier to approach him––it all depends on the context.

4. Drop your chosen item. Do it "by accident", right in the middle of the conversation -- if things are going well. Now comes the move.

5. Slowly bend forward while sliding your hand delicately down your leg. It's a good idea to practice this in front of the mirror, as you might feel self-conscious about how it comes across otherwise.

6. Pick up the item. As you do so, brusquely "snap" upwards, at the same time lunging your chest outward and towards your chosen target. Think of it like being a tree branch snapping back into position after bending in the wind.

7. Glance into your target's eyes. Don't break eye contact. Giggle playfully. Hopefully, he will now be totally attracted to your charm, or at least, very much paying attention!

His Steadfast Love

This is a good story. I liked it. I would recommend this book for people to read.

This book is about a young woman named Amanda, she is the pastor daughter, the fathers temporary position as pastor has lasted 2 years. Her father's name is Ezekiel. She has a brother named Daniel. She has 3 younger sisters who are introduced as the "three little Belle sisters". 10 year old Emmaline, 4 year old Mary and 6 year old Catherine. They have a family dog named Sam Houston (named after their governor) whose nick name is Sam. Amanda's best friend "Claire" is Daniels fiancee.

Captain Kent Littlefield come to Texas, and starts coming to every Sunday church service. He says thought he is a Presbyterian he enjoys Amanda's fathers (Methodist) sermons. He is even considering moving from Pennsylvania and setting down in Texas (after he retires from the army) since he has no sweetheart or anything to tie him down there. He asks her permission to ask her father permission to call on her. She has to ask him to wait for a while, cause she gave her mother a promise that she would always help look after her siblings.



Here are a few tidbits from the beginning, (cause i don't want to give the Whole story away, just enough to interest you).

Because Kent needs to go to war, the father finds out that he is fighting for the North (Union) and tells Kent that he wishes his daughter to marry a Southerner (Confederate) gentleman.
Daniel decides to put on a "Gray" coat and join the Confederate army to fight the "Blue" coats. Amanda is upset that he is doing this.

This was the second book in the series. I hadn't known that when I decided to read it, but I was still able to understand the storyline. It was an interesting book. I had read one of Terri's books before and thought it was good so thought I would read this one and I was not disappointed in it. I loved reading this, it was action packed.

Juliet's husband is killed in front of her right at the start of the book. They were married for 15 years. Juliet find out the man she is married to isn't the same person she thought that he was. She and her sisters and a private investigator take matters into their own hands to find out all of what Bob was up to all these years. They find a drug trafficking history, a fortune in cash, and a secret family

Heroes and Villains of the Bible

I know this a childrens version of the bible events, but I think that anyone would enjoy reading this book. My daughter having a somewhat short attention span, did like the book but I have to say with only a few pictures, it didn't completely captivate her. But she said it has some nice pictures, like of Eve being tempted by the Serpent. It talks of the very beginning and lots more events that are in the bible, like how Cain took the life of his younger brother.

"Cain was the first son ever born. But instead of being a good example, he was the worst example. Cain let anger take over his heart. And then he chose to do something that could never be undone."


It tells the story of Noah's Ark, how it rained for 150 days and then dried up in over another 150 days. How he sent a dove out to see if the earth was dried up enough.

"I will never again destroy all living things by floodwaters. A flood will never again destroy the earth. . . .I am putting my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of the agreement between me and the earth."


A very great read.

Sunrise on the Battery‏

I started reading this, and have to say it started off sort of slow. It didn't really draw me into the book. I have to say out of 5 stars this one gets a 3. It does make tells of thing that does happen in real life. One parent has faith in god and the other doesn't.

Mary Lynn tries to help her husband love god. He does eventually but not till way close to the end.
